While hosting a study of the Book of Acts in our home in 1998, we were reminded of two major facts with respect to the Name of Jesus.

First, was the incredible power available to his followers through the faithfilled use of His Name. Just as Jesus had great power on earth during his earthly ministry, his first century followers seemed to demonstrate similar power through the use of His Name.

Next, we saw the recurring opposition to the use of His Name. Just as he had been violently opposed during his earthly ministry, so too, were his post ascension followers as they effectively used His Name.

We came to understand that it was precisely because of Jesus' great power and the great power in His Name, that opposition was so strong.....then and now.

No other name in history sparks more inspiration (for those who follow Him) or opposition (by those who choose not to follow Him) as the Name of Jesus.
